Dawn Hendrixson

Permaculture Designer, Biodynamic Practitioner and Garden Consultant/Coach

Dawn Hendrixson owns and operates Forager Farms. She’s been gardening for over 15 years. It wasn’t until she moved to Connecticut and bought a house that she really got serious about it. After studying Latin in High School, Dawn realized that gardening might be her only opportunity to actually use her Latin, a language she slaved to learn as a student. After all, if you want to be taken seriously as a gardener, you do need to know all those pesky Latin botanical names.

Dawn is a certified Connecticut Master Gardener and graduate of the one-year Practical Training in Biodynamics at the Pfeiffer Center in Chestnut Ridge, NY. She is also a certified Permaculture Designer through the Permaculture Design Certification course offered by Andrew Faust, one of  the premier Permaculture teachers and designers in North America with nearly two decades of experience in the field. Andrew runs the Center for Bioregional Living in Ellenville, NY.

Dawn brings a strong feminine nurturing and healing energy to her garden design. Her designs are intended to work with nature, not against it. She practices holistic garden practices like organics, permaculture, biodynamics, soil building and fertility, vermiculture, composting and integrated pest management). These techniques are at the core of Forager Farms’ process. She is passionate about living gently on the earth, growing food in more sustainable ways, beekeeping and helping others learn how to garden and grow their own food. She believes also believes in the beauty of gardens to heal our souls and provide solace in today’s fast-paced world.

Dawn is available to teach workshops designed to help individuals, schools and communities learn to grow food. She also teaches workshops on a variety of other topics. If you need a speaker for your event or want to develop a custom presentation for your group, please call Dawn to discuss your specific topic or area of interest.
